…Let’s get away for a while…
From Chicago to Lima, Peru you’re expecting an eight hour flight. Not too shabby… especially if you leave in the evening and sleep the whole way there.
My family and I left Chicago at 5:30pm on Thursday and arrived to Lima the following day at 5:32am where we caught a connecting flight to Cusco. Due to some unexpected flight complications, we arrived in Cusco at 9pm that day. Yep, thats right. We were supposed to arrive at 9am and enjoy a full day of exploring, but with traveling (or anything really) one never knows what may go wrong. Nonetheless, our vacation to Peru was UH-MAZ-ING and I highly recommend adding this to your bucket list.
First things first, before any vacation be sure to get organized! Unless you’re the go-with-the-flow type of person, then power to ya! I, on the other hand, live and breathe off of organization. So, naturally, I had to make an itinerary (pictured below) before we left to Peru.
Now, who’s ready for the deets? I will link as much as possible down below for you guys.
Ollantaytambo, Cusco, Peru
Stay: El Albergue
Visit: Machu Picchu, Ruinas Ollantaytambo and a hike to an incredible view (*all pictured below)
Eat: El Albergue, order anything and everything. We basically tried everything on the menu and we were never disappointed. I highly recommend doing the Pachamanca lunch, a traditional Inca meal cooked upon hot rocks, at the hotel. It was so delicious! (*pictured below)
Urubamba, Cusco, Peru
Stay: Inti Nan
Visit: Písac & the Písac Market (*both pictured below)
Eat: Buen Gusto, order the ‘Lomo Saltado’
Visit: Salineras de Maras, Moray, Plaza de Armas, Saksaywaman, Tambomachay (* all pictured below)
Visit: The beach! (*a little photoshoot at the beach pictured below)
Eat: El Pez On, order the ‘Orgia Marina’ or ‘Asu Que Tal Ravioli’ (*both meals pictured below)
